Zix Corporation Signs BryanLGH Medical Center to Three-Year Contract for Secure e-Messaging
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 2003--
Nationally recognized Nebraska nonprofit opts for dual ZixCorp services for company wide email protection
Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of protection, management, and delivery solutions for electronic communications, today announced that BryanLGH Medical Center, a nonprofit healthcare organization based in Lincoln, Nebraska, has signed a three-year contract with ZixCorp for email protection services. The medical center chose ZixCorp to uphold prudent business practices, support its email security policies, and comply with the security regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
BryanLGH purchased ZixVPM(R) (Virtual Private Messenger) and ZixPort(TM) communications protection services for 1,000 users, which will ensure company-wide email security. ZixVPM is a server-based email security solution that provides automatic encryption of incoming and outgoing emails based on company security policy and ZixPort will provide custom branding and encrypted message functionality to BryanLGH's existing Web portal.
"We looked at various methods to secure our communications, and realized that managing certificates would create a high resource requirement. ZixCorp's send-to-anyone capability was easier to use, easier to manage, and integrated seamlessly with our existing systems," said Rick Hain, information security officer for BryanLGH Medical Center. "But the most important reason we selected ZixCorp was for its unique-to-the-industry advanced HIPAA lexicon built into the ZixVPM that automatically encrypts any protected health information for our end users."
BryanLGH employs over 4,000 staff members in its two acute-care facilities and several outpatient clinics. Last month, the organization received five-star ratings from HealthGrades(R), a national healthcare quality company, in multiple areas including bypass surgery, treatment of heart attack, orthopedic surgery, and vascular surgery, ranking BryanLGH among the best in the nation. The organization also has been voted as a top 10 hospital in the U.S. for knee-hip orthopedic care by the AARP and recognized as a top 100 company for working mothers by Working Mother magazine. For five consecutive years, BryanLGH has been named to the Solucient list of 100 top cardiovascular hospitals.
"BryanLGH is a major healthcare provider for Nebraska. We already have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, the state's leading payor, using ZixCorp services, and gaining a prominent provider shows momentum in the Midwest for communications protection," said Dennis Heathcote, vice president, marketing & products. "ZixCorp's acceptance and growth in the healthcare community is building, and the superior interoperability, ease of use, and end user satisfaction of our services will continue to significantly expand our customer base in Nebraska and throughout the country."
