Zix Corporation Selected by Two New York Counties for Anti-Spam and Web Content Filtering Solutions

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2004--

Both Madison and Sullivan counties to use Message Inspector(R) and Web Inspector(R) for Internet protection

Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of secure e-messaging, e-prescribing, and e-transaction applications and services, today announced that Sullivan County Government Center and Madison County have chosen ZixCorp solutions to protect their networks from spam and unauthorized Internet use.

The counties will use ZixCorp's Message Inspector for anti-spam and email content filtering. Message Inspector is a multi-level email management tool with enhanced administration features that provide a comprehensive, accurate, and easy-to-use solution. It helps manage, filter, and if necessary, block unauthorized inbound, outbound, and interoffice communications. Sullivan County will have 1,000 users and Madison County will have 300 users.

"With the proliferation of spam and other network attacks, we needed a solution that could help us eliminate spam, prevent data loss, and reduce legal liability. Message Inspector does just that while providing us an easy means to customize it to our specifications," said Lorne D. Green, security officer for Sullivan County.

Each county also purchased Web Inspector for Internet content filtering services. It helps organizations enforce Internet acceptable use policies by monitoring and blocking inappropriate Web sites. Sullivan purchased 1,000 seats; Madison purchased 200 seats.

"It was important that our employees stay focused to maintain high productivity levels," said David Mills, information technology director for Madison County Government Center. "We're very impressed with the flexibility of Web Inspector. Unlike blacklist-based products, it enables us to easily adapt it to how we work, so it improves office efficiency and reduces security risks without being intrusive."

Rick Spurr, president and chief operating officer for ZixCorp, said more local and national governments are beginning to see the importance of anti-spam and Web content filtering solutions. "Spam continues to be on the increase and government entities are taking action to reduce spam and monitor the Web activity of employees to increase productivity. Message Inspector and Web Inspector tackle both these problems head-on and enable users to maintain effectiveness in their jobs."
