DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2004--Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of secure e-messaging, e-prescribing, and e-transaction applications and services, today announced that Suffolk County National Bank (SCNB), the second largest independent bank headquartered on Long Island, has signed a three-year contract for ZixCorp services.
SCNB purchased ZixVPM(R) (Virtual Private Messenger), an enterprise-wide email encryption service that includes a built-in personal financial lexicon that automatically encrypts emails containing information mandated by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) as personally identifiable financial information. This confidential data includes financial identifiers (Social Security and account numbers), financial terms (e.g., balance transfer, refinance, etc.), and credit card numbers.
"We were concerned about protecting the privacy of our customers, but we didn't want to require our email recipients to install any additional software to decrypt messages. ZixVPM's send-to-anyone capability solved that problem easily with no hassles," said Mark Drozd, senior vice president, data processing for SCNB. "The fact that all our outgoing mail conforms with our security policies keeps us one step ahead of government regulations and shows our customers we care about confidentiality."
SCNB purchased ZixVPM through the New York Bankers Service Corporation (NYBSCO) and its endorsed vendor program. This special alliance enables NYBSCO members to participate in a group purchasing program for special pricing on ZixCorp services including ZixVPM, ZixPort(R), and ZixMail(R).
"With the growing cost of identity theft and its potential impact on customer trust and confidence, the banking community is seeking ways to assure the protection of client information," said Rick Spurr, president and chief operating officer for ZixCorp. "ZixVPM's built-in financial lexicon, send-to-anyone encryption, and fast deployment, backed with the power of the ZixSecure Center(TM) makes ZixCorp an excellent choice for financial institutions looking to avoid a potential data-leak exposure."
The bank joins other ZixCorp financial clients, including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision.
