One of the Country's Largest Providers of Inpatient and Outpatient Services Chooses Suite of Company-Wide Email Protection Solutions
DALLAS, Oct 29, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of protection, management, and delivery solutions for electronic communications, today announced that Hackensack University Medical Center, a leading teaching and research hospital and New Jersey's largest provider of inpatient and outpatient services, has signed a three-year contract with ZixCorp for its company-wide email protection solution. The company joins other prominent healthcare providers using ZixCorp communication protection services including Ascension Health, IASIS Healthcare Corporation, Memorial Care, Detroit Medical Center, and University of Utah Health Science Center.
Hackensack University Medical Center purchased ZixAuditor(R) assessment services and will deploy the ZixVPM(R) (Virtual Private Messenger) system, which will cover their over 5,000 user community, to meet the email safeguard requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). ZixAuditor identifies email security vulnerabilities and monitors ongoing communications to determine compliance and effectiveness. ZixVPM enables company-wide adherence to corporate security policies including inbound and outbound email encryption and automatic content filtering of protected health information. ZixPort(TM) will be used to provide secure communications capabilities to Hackensack University Medical Center's existing Web site. In addition, the organization's physicians and dentists will participate in the free ZixMail(TM) desktop encryption solution offered to all U.S. doctors by the HealthyEmail organization.
HealthyEmail is a nonprofit organization created to maximize the potential of email use in the healthcare industry. The organization is addressing the increasing problems involving physicians' email communications with patients, hospitals, insurers and other doctors, particularly where sensitive patient information is involved. ZixCorp donated two million licenses of ZixMail to the organization to help every physician in the United States email securely to anyone.
