Zix Corporation Selected by Barnes-Jewish Hospital for Laboratory Connectivity Services

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 2004--

Missouri's largest hospital signs three-year contract for Dr. Chart(R) automated order entry and results reporting

Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging protection and transaction services, today announced that Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Missouri's largest hospital comprising 887 beds and over 9,000 employees, has signed a three-year contract for ZixCorp's Dr. Chart(R) service to meet its secure laboratory to physician's office connectivity needs.

Dr. Chart is a Web-based communications tool that connects healthcare providers and laboratories. It enables doctors to initiate lab orders, check medical necessity compliance, and view results rapidly and accurately using an encrypted Internet connection. The service automates several processes that place a burden on laboratory operations. Dr. Chart was formerly offered by MyDocOnline(TM), whose assets and business were recently acquired by ZixCorp.

"We evaluated Dr. Chart against the current set of vendors in the laboratory space and determined that it provided the best set of relevant functionality," said Ellis Frohman, administrator for laboratory services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. "Dr. Chart keeps things simple and we feel this best serves our end user's needs. We're comfortable with Dr. Chart's strong presence in the laboratory outreach arena and believe it has proven that flexibility is key to laboratory outreach operations."

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is consistently ranked among the Honor Roll of America's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish is also the only hospital in St. Louis to be named a Consumer Choice Winner in the National Research Corp's Healthcare Market Guide. The organization has a 1,784 member medical staff with many who are recognized in the "Best Doctors in America."

"Barnes-Jewish Hospital's decision to deploy Dr. Chart further reinforces our statements that we have the most stable, reliable software for laboratory operations of all sizes," said Mike Reardon, director of sales for ZixCorp. "Dr. Chart is keenly focused on providing relevant and practical solutions to solve the needs of the modern reference or hospital laboratory. We welcome Barnes-Jewish to our growing family of outreach success stories and look forward to serving its needs in the future."
