Zix Corporation to Provide Humana with ZixWorks: HIPAA Compliant Secure e-Messaging

Humana Partners with ZixWorks, a Trusted Third-Party Solution, to Integrate Smart e-Messaging with Web Security Solution

Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging management and protection services, today announced a contract with Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM), a Fortune 200 company serving approximately 6.6 million members and more than 330,000 providers, for secure e-messaging and content management services. Ranked as the 7th largest company in the health benefits industry by Fortune, Humana's contract covers the entire set of trusted third-party services encompassed in ZixCorp's ZixWorks(TM) offering, including its send-to-anyone secure email service, as well as advanced content management, anti-spam, anti-virus, and archiving services. Humana will also implement ZixPort(TM), ZixCorp's, browser-based, custom-branded secure e-messaging portal solution and will use the company's ZixAuditor(TM) assessment services to refine policies and monitor effectiveness on an ongoing basis.

After looking at several vendors, Humana chose ZixCorp to deploy a secure e-messaging solution enterprise-wide that will integrate with Humana's Web security system, providing a transparent experience and advanced identity authentication of registered users. Humana's emphasis on ensuring the privacy of member information is an integral part of its strategy to provide members and their physicians with secure access to information and tools to better choose and use health benefits. The ZixWorks solution is also expected to provide on-going compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), requiring healthcare institutions in the United States to safeguard protected health information.

The ZixPort service will be fully branded and integrated on www.humana.com with Humana's own portal offerings, providing physicians, members, partners and employers with a transparent user experience leveraging Humana's existing single sign-on security solution. Humana's customer service support applications will take advantage of ZixCorp's application program interfaces with the expectation of realizing increased efficiencies, lowering support costs and increasing customer satisfaction by providing Humana support staff with real-time information when supporting customers. The ZixPort service relies on the full 24/7 monitoring and management capabilities of ZixCorp's world-class data center.

ZixWorks provides the efficiencies and dedicated resources of a single source for full-service anti-spam, anti-virus, content management, filtering and scanning capabilities. The service is further supported by the ZixResearch Center(TM), which will manage the ongoing development and enhancement of these services.
