Zix Corporation Offers Free Web Seminar on Smart e-Messaging; Webinar Feb. 19 is Final Installment in Series Related to HIPAA Compliance Issues

DALLAS, Feb 11, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging management and protection services, today announced it will conduct a Web seminar Feb. 19 highlighting the smart e-messaging solutions of its new ZixWorks(TM) total-care hosted email service. ZixWorks is the first comprehensive and fully managed service available to safeguard e-messaging against email-borne threats, to deliver policy-driven security, and to help companies comply with various regulations and corporate mandates regarding transmittal and retention of email. ZixWorks' comprehensive suite of cost-effective "smart" services permits companies to instantly turn on anti-virus, anti-spam, content scanning, encryption, and archiving capabilities.

The Webinar concludes the four-part series "Countdown to HIPAA Email Compliance -- Understanding the Issues, Simplifying Deployment." The series focuses on the benefits of compliance with the email security guidelines of The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and how those guidelines affect organizations -- from risk management planning to deployment of a solution. Speakers have included John Christiansen, attorney for Preston Gates & Ellis LLP; Joyce Graff of Gartner, Inc.; and Russell Morgan, vice president of client services for ZixCorp. Replays of these prior presentations are available from the ZixCorp Web site at

The Webinar "Beyond Secure Email: Smart e-Messaging" will be presented by Al Goerner, director of research for ZixCorp. Goerner will discuss how HIPAA regulations cause organizations to face the challenge of enforcing effective email security policies to protect against legal, financial, and reputation damage occurring from noncompliance. ZixWorks enables companies to avoid these consequences by securing their e-messaging needs without on-premise equipment, with minimal IT involvement, and with no impact upon end users.

"ZixWorks represents the ultimate in effective email security," said Goerner. "ZixCorp has become a single source that organizations can turn to for all their e-messaging management and protection needs. Each element of ZixWorks, including anti-spam and anti-virus, is of the highest quality. Our encryption services have already proven themselves as easily usable send-to-anyone email protection, and ZixWorks takes that convenience and usability and adapts it to all areas of e-messaging."

"Furthermore, ZixWorks is much more economical to a company than developing an in-house e-messaging security solution from scratch," Goerner continued. "Not only are there no upfront capital costs, but there are also no hardware or upgrade expenses. There's no juggling of multiple vendors, no manual public key exchange, and no waiting weeks for deployment. ZixWorks can get any company, from large to small, up and running with a HIPAA-compliant e-messaging security program in hours. This seminar will explain how ZixWorks simplifies the process of becoming HIPAA compliant by offering a reliable hosted service that's a perfect productivity tool."

The Webinar will be broadcast Feb. 19, 2003, at 3:00 ET (2:00 CT), at
