Zix Corporation Gains Contract with Tenet for Secure e-Messaging

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 2005--Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of secure e-messaging, e-prescribing, and e-transaction applications and services, today announced that it has signed a three-year contract with Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) to provide secure e-messaging to help Tenet meet the email guidelines of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

ZixVPM(R) (Virtual Private Messenger) automatically secures inbound and outbound email communications. The service enforces email security policies to ensure secure handling of confidential data, and includes a pre-configured HIPAA lexicon that detects and encrypts messages with Protected Health Information (PHI).

A new ZixVPM service has the ability to create a transparent, secure channel for encrypted messaging between a company and the business partners it communicates with most frequently. The service enables partners to send and receive encrypted messages directly to and from their email inbox.

"By installing this new secure channel, companies can significantly increase the number of business partners that can seamlessly receive secure communications directly into the primary email boxes for greater convenience and efficiency," said Todd Spurr, account manager for ZixCorp.

ZixVPM integrates seamlessly with Tenet's existing network infrastructure, including email systems, virus scanning, and anti-spam programs. It is transparent to end users and sets policy for the entire organization, departments, or individuals.
