Zix Corporation Continues Healthcare Momentum in New Jersey with Three-Year AtlantiCare Contract

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 2003--

Southern New Jersey healthcare system chooses ZixCorp for multiple e-messaging protection services

Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging protection and transaction services, today announced its continuing strength in the New Jersey healthcare market with a three-year contract from AtlantiCare, an integrated healthcare system based in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. AtlantiCare joins other leading New Jersey healthcare organizations that have selected ZixCorp as their e-messaging protection provider including the New Jersey Hospital Association, Saint Barnabas Health Care System, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Health System, Solaris Health System, CentraState Healthcare System, Rahway Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, and QualCare.

AtlantiCare selected ZixCorp services to keep its patient and financial information confidential, maintain best practice standards and comply with the email security regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The company chose to secure their email through an enterprise-wide encryption and management solution, ZixVPM(R) (Zix Virtual Private Messenger) for 1,000 users and the desktop encryption solution ZixMail(TM) for 15 selected employees. AtlantiCare also purchased ZixPort(TM) to brand its Web portal with the same look and feel as its Web site. In addition, the company performed a ZixAuditor(R) assessment to monitor its email communications and determine effective email security policies.

"We were looking for a service that made secure email automatic when transmitting protected health and other sensitive information," said Lawrence Sharrott, CIO for AtlantiCare. "We also required the solution to be easy to use and easy to install. ZixCorp met all our needs and more, including its HIPAA lexicon and email assessment service."

"With the previously announced relationship with the New Jersey Hospital Association, we are quickly becoming the preferred e-messaging protection provider in New Jersey," said Dennis Heathcote, vice president of marketing and products for ZixCorp. "As more organizations opt for ZixCorp services, other healthcare organizations get a first-hand look at our send-to-anyone technology and discover for themselves how our services are the most easy-to-use solution for secure e-messaging. There's no better compliment than our customers recommending us to their peers."
