DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 2003--Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of protection, management, and delivery solutions for electronic communications, today announced that it has completed the first stage of its second American Institute of Certified Public Accountants SysTrust(TM) certification review by Deloitte. The audit team reviewed system reliability for effectiveness of controls over the security, availability, processing integrity, and confidentiality of the ZixSecure Center(TM), the world-class data center that handles operations for ZixCorp services.
ZixCorp received its initial SysTrust certification in May 2003. To ensure that SysTrust standards are consistently maintained, ZixCorp requested an early start of the mandatory annual audit process. The Deloitte audit team will complete its audit work in April and May of next year as part of the ongoing requirements established by the AICPA/CICA SysTrust program.
"Our compliance and progress has been more than acceptable since our original certification, but this mid-year exercise has given us an extra measure of confidence," said David J. "During the week of examination and the six months leading up to the interim review, the auditor had no critical observations. SysTrust certification helps increase the comfort of management, customers, and business partners that support a business or a particular activity. The SysTrust standards used to evaluate the reliability of a system cover the areas of availability, security, processing integrity, and confidentiality. SysTrust certification is sought by organizations that perform mission-critical operations and must be trusted and absolutely reliable. It is awarded only to organizations that are attuned to the risks posed by their network environment and expressly equipped with the controls that address those risks.
