Zix Corporation Chosen by Triumph HealthCare for Secure e-Messaging

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--

Houston Long-Term Healthcare Company Signs Three-Year Contract for ZixVPM(R) System-Wide Email Encryption

Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of secure e-messaging, e-prescribing, and e-transaction applications and services, today announced that Triumph HealthCare, a Houston-based long-term acute care hospital company, has signed a three-year contract for ZixVPM(R) (Virtual Private Messenger) for system-wide email encryption.

Triumph purchased ZixVPM to comply with the secure email mandates of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The service will enforce email security policies to ensure secure handling of confidential data for 600 users, including a pre-configured HIPAA lexicon that automatically detects and encrypts Protected Health Information (PHI).

"We take HIPAA regulations seriously and compliance was definitely the driver. But even without the mandates, we believe it's always important to protect information about our patients," said Beata Blach, assistant vice president of information services for Triumph. "We particularly like the seamlessness and ease of use with ZixVPM."

Triumph is Houston's eighth largest healthcare system. The company currently operates five hospitals that specialize in treating catastrophically injured or chronically ill patients. A sixth facility, a 92,000-square-foot building with 100 private rooms, is scheduled to open June of this year in Clear Lake, Texas.

"While all of our ZixVPM contract wins are gratifying, its especially exciting when it's a quality organization from our home state," said Rick Spurr, acting chief executive officer, president and chief operating officer for ZixCorp. "Triumph is a growing company and we fully intend to build on our relationship as it expands and adds new facilities and employees."
