Zix Corporation and Per-Se Technologies Sign Multi-Year e-Health Services Agreement; PocketScript(R) Expands Access to Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2006--Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq: ZIXI), the leader in hosted services for email encryption and e-prescribing, today announced it has entered into a three-year agreement with Per-Se Technologies (Nasdaq: PSTI), the Connective Healthcare leader that helps physicians, pharmacies and hospitals realize their financial goals. Under this agreement, Per-Se will provide patient medication history data, eligibility and formulary information to participating physicians via ZixCorp's PocketScript electronic prescribing service at the point of care.

Per-Se is using its Intelligent Network, the largest pharmacy transaction clearinghouse in the nation, to provide secure access to patient eligibility data, benefit plan drug formularies, and medication history information from health plans and third-party payers, including pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). One of those PBMs is Prime Therapeutics, which is aligned with nine Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans. With access to Per-Se's network, ZixCorp will now be able to provide physician clients with PocketScript electronic prescribing services for these additional nine Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.

"Our network helps physicians and pharmacists optimize patient care by increasing access to information that helps to reduce potentially harmful drug interactions and reduce patient costs for prescriptions," said Scott MacKenzie, president of Per-Se's Pharmacy Solutions Division. "Per-Se improves the physician decision-making process by providing a comprehensive view of a patient's medication history while decreasing potential for out-of-plan rejection. Plus, with real-time access to insurance plan benefit information, more physicians can make the best product selection for a patient."

"Agreements with innovative companies such as Per-Se further expand our reach in the e-prescribing market to continually improve the physician's experience when using PocketScript. We are committed to working closely with Per-Se to implement this capability soon within our network of e-prescribers," said Rick Spurr, chief executive officer for ZixCorp. "Furthermore, this agreement supports our strategic efforts to increase the financial performance of our e-prescribing unit."

PocketScript improves patient safety and reduces costs by allowing physicians to write electronic prescriptions through a handheld device, and then send them immediately to pharmacies. During the prescribing process, the application provides real-time formulary information, a drug reference guide, drug-to-drug and drug-to-allergy checking, and patient-specific drug-dispensed lists.
