Trinity Health System Secures Its Community with Zix Email Encryption

Automatic encryption protects employees and gives added confidence to Trinity Health System Patients

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio & DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 2015-- Zix Corporation (ZixCorp), (Nasdaq: ZIXI), a leader in email data protection, announced that Trinity Health System has selected Zix® Email Encryption to secure email for 2,000 employees. With automatic scanning and encryption, Trinity Health System protects its employees, enhances data security for its patients and meets its regulatory obligations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

“We have an obligation to our community to protect our patients and their privacy, and data security has long been a top priority for Trinity Health System. We’ve used email encryption for years, but our previous solution placed too much reliance on our employees. Determining when to encrypt added stress on daily communication, and the extra steps weren’t convenient,” said Tom Kiger, Director of Information Systems for Trinity Health System. “In implementing automatic email encryption with ZixCorp, everyone is better protected. We enhance data security for our patients while eliminating the burden on our employees.”

Trinity Health System uses ZixGateway®, a policy-based email encryption service, and out-of-the-box Zix policy filters to scan and encrypt email messages and attachments that contain sensitive content, such as protected health information and Social Security numbers. Zix policy filters are a proven benefit to its customers, which include one in five U.S. hospitals and more than 30 Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations.

Another benefit to Trinity Health System is the convenient experience of receiving Zix Encrypted Email. ZixCorp automatically delivers encrypted email in the most secure, easiest manner possible, including the industry’s only fully transparent delivery of encrypted email. With transparent email encryption, Trinity Health System employees and any recipients using ZixGateway can exchange secure email without any passwords or extra steps.

“The user experience of Zix Email Encryption is smooth,” said Kiger. “We haven’t heard from employees or recipients since rolling it out, and that is a true sign that everything is working perfectly.”

“Email encryption shouldn’t be a burden. Automatic email encryption provides unparalleled peace of mind and ease of use for our customers and their employees. Automatic decryption makes email security just as easy for recipients,” said Rick Spurr, ZixCorp’s Chief Executive Officer. “In removing the stress, hassles and frustrations, ZixCorp allows email security to work in the background and lets healthcare organizations focus on patient health and quality care.”
